Seconds, Welsh Lady bud vase - perfectly imperfect!

SECONDS, perfectly imperfect. The photos are off the seconds so you can see the sort of finish you will be getting.

I had a batch of ladies come out of the kiln not quite up to my usual standards but they are still water tight vases and have a beautiful rustic finish.

These stoneware ladies are thrown on my potters wheel in 2 parts, the body and the hat. Once dry enough to handle, the hats are attached. The apron pattern is screen printed in my studio and attached to the lady using a transfer technique. They are then fully painted in a beautiful deep blue and when this has dried the character is scratched and carved into the clay using a technique called sgraffito. They are then twice fired with a dip in a red iron oxide solution to give it the rustic textured 'blue stone' feel.

Each lady is carefully crafted by Rhiannon.

They are between 11cm and 14cm tall.
