Mini Welsh Lady candlestick holder

Handmade ceramic Welsh lady candlestick holders.

These stoneware ladies are thrown on my potters wheel in 2 parts, the body and the hat top. Once dry enough to handle, the hats are attached. The apron pattern is screen printed in my studio and attached to the lady using a transfer technique. They are then fully painted in a beautiful deep blue and when this has dried, the character is scratched and carved into the clay using a technique called sgraffito. They are then twice fired with a dip in a red iron oxide solution to give it the rustic textured 'blue stone' feel.

The candle is not included. They are roughly 65mm tall.

Each lady is carefully crafted by Rhiannon.
